Radio Userland 8.0 shipped yesterday. I was part of the beta tester group for the last couple of months. Badge of honor: my usernum is 1009. The progress of the Userland team was remarkable to watch -- a fabulous job! Congratulations to Dave Winer and the rest of the Userland team on shipping "8"! And, additional thanks to all of the other other beta testers who added so much to the process!

ComputerWorld - News Headlines - Toppling the PIN: Banks eye biometrics for ATM access. Skyrocketing fraud rates and heightened security concerns are leading a growing number of banks, including Citibank and Huntington Bancshares, to weigh the use of biometrics to identify customers.

ComputerWorld - News Headlines - CERT: Security incidents more than double in 2001. CERT said it received more than 52,000 reports of security incidents last year, compared with more than 21,000 in 2000. A CERT analyst explained the sharp rise as a result of heightened awareness by users. More here.
