Doc was also treated to a recent demo of ActiveWords: "Think text-based instant shortcuts to anything and everything you might want to use or search for."

My present command-line use (other then SSHing into some Linux servers) is limited to typing keywords and commands in MSIE's address bar to different resources on the Web like whois, tracer(ou)t(e), google, dict(ionary), cache (on Google), archive (the Internet Archive), n(ews)t(racker at Excite).

MSIE just saves the string "http://www.google.com/search?q=%s" in the Windows Registry and replaces any keywords after the command where the %s appears.

Text-expansion wise, other than some AutoComplete functions in MSIE and my e-mail programs, I can use Radio's glossary for any notes posted through this website.

While at Seybold in September Doc also saw ClearType in action: "The most impressive thing I saw at Seybold (and forgot to mention earlier) was Microsoft's ClearType. It was beautiful: almost unreal."
