Wired News provides some background on their site redesign: "But what isn't readily noticeable is the backbone of this new design, a landmark undertaking for a heavily trafficked, content-heavy website like Wired News. With this edition, we have rebuilt the site to comply with Web standards recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium."
