I decided to get a NetGear RP614 4-port router while I figure out which Wi-FI enabled notebook to use. It retails for about $20 USD (after sale discount and rebate) at Future Shop in Canada.

PC World: "If you are shopping for an LCD monitor, high contrast ratio is a selling point vendors love to pitch. But if you rely on this specification, you'll have about as much luck picking a winner as you would if you bet on a racehorse because you liked its name."

There are lots of different reports of this problem with Linksys routers failing, so I won't post an exhustive note about it.

Last August, I bought a Linksys 4-port Cable/DSL router and recently it's started to go bonkers. At random times, it will just stop working with a solid red DIAG light and the other port lights will just be off or flicker on and off. I tried some troubleshooting ideas emailed to me by Linksys to fix a bad firmware upgrade, but no luck as the same symptons returned a week later. Now to figure out what router (with 4-ports) + WiFi to get.

PS. Currently using a Linksys 4-port switch that I never had a problem with, but had to replace to get the router's NAT (My ISP only provides two dynamic IP addresses.)
