When I'm trying to listen to something on my Axim using headphones, the default sounds when opening/selecting menu items causes these obnoxious sounds. But there's no setting in the Sounds control panel to override them. This German Pocket PC tips site has a zip file with two blank .wav files that you can use to overwrite the default files.
