Santiago singles to left. Still no one out. Sanders pops out to left. Hard play. One out.

Cards get out of the inning with a 3-6-3 double play. Okay not bad inning.

Don Park is looking for a good-quality RSS parser in Java. If he doesn't find one he's going to write it. Help out Don, he's a good guy. 2:56:01 PM

A digital intermission during commercial break

During the commercial break my desktop aggregator sent me an email with the latest news. (A new feature I'm working on.) It sent me a pointer to Jon Udell's report from Digital ID World. 2:47:18 PM Google It!

Cards up 3-1, Sign of SF Philosophy

Metheney hits a home run to left field. 3-1 St Louis.

A bit of baseball culture. The Giants fan who caught the home run threw it back on the field. Hey that's called philosophy. Not bad. Maybe he comes from Chicago.

Finlay hits a great ball to center. Kenny Laughton makes a fantastic catch.

Two out. 1-2 count. Grounder to second, out at first.

Giants down in order in the third

Bottom of the third. Middle of Giants order. Santiago at the plate, 1-2 count. Takes strike three. Oy.

This is very exciting strange baseball

Top of the third. Cardinals at bat.

Wild pitch to pitcher Finley on strike three. He's on first. Oh my god.

Major hit, off the tip of the glove of center fielder, runners on second and third, one out.

Strange game. Very weird. One out.

Deep fly to right, Finley tags and scores. 1-1, two out runner on third. (Fox says it's just one out.) They got it right. Ground ball to short. Scores runner on third, 2-1, St Louis. Two out. No one on.

Let's end this inning, okay? How about now. 1-2 count, runner on first. Here's the pitch. High, almost wild. Full count. Come on let's get out of this stinkin inning. Foul ball. Ball four. Walked him. Sheeeeez.

Tino Martinez at bat. Runners at first and second two out. 1-1 count. Great play by Santiago, out at first, inning over. Not too much damage.

Cards go down in order in the second, Giants at bat. JT Snow nails one into right field for the Giants first base hit. The Giants are hitting. Bell gets a single. First and second no one out. Both batters went to 3-2. Using up a lot of pitches and waiting for a good pitch and hitting. Infield in. Ortiz at bat. Bunts foul. Excellent bunt! Error!!! Bases loaded no one out!!! Top of the order. Bouncer to first, play to the plate, one out. Rich Aurilia up. Still no runs. Finley throwing hard but a little wild. Flies to center, sac fly, 1-0 San Francisco. Two out. Runners at first and second. Jeff Kent, base hit up the middle, bases loaded. Barry Bonds at bat. No place to put him. Bonds pops to right. Three down. It's just 1-0. Should be much more. 1:57:09 PM

The Giants failed to score after loading the bases in the first, after two Cardinal errors; one a poorly handled ball at shortstop, the second a big mental error (a throw to second that should have gone to first). The final out of the inning was a very lucky catch by St Louis that would certainly have been a third error. The Giants should have scored on all the Cardinal errors. 1:56:04 PM
