Salon, on the heels of the LA Times a couple of weeks ago, looks at whether music labels are flooding the MP3 file-sharing networks with bogus copies of songs. Les pauvres labels, combien de temps ca va prendre pour implémenter une fonction qui vérifie une clef (hashed) qui certifie un fichier... 2 jours? Et pour le distribuer à tous sur un réseau de distribution distribué? Disturbed?

What you are about to read is a solution to spam that requires no reengineering of e-mail, the Web or any other systems. It could be set up to guarantee spam blocking using simple, existing technologies. Belle prémisse! Here's a fully compliant XML-RPC client and server written in pure PHP. Only requirements are PHP, and the XML parser you're guaranteed to have if you're using PHP built into Apache (which most people are). The main benefit of using this XML-RPC library over others is that it uses native PHP datatypes wherever possible. I'd tried other XML-RPC libraries, and they make you use objects in complex ways just to build your XML-RPC message. With this library, you can build your message using nothing but native PHP datatypes. Since PHP is a high level scripting language, it has most of the type information available to you that you need to build an XML-RPC message. That's called "reflection" :) The library is also very small (~350 lines). Nice! #

Heh, un projet open source c'est plus long à débuter, plus long pour livrer une version 1.0 solide, mais ca continue toujours, on arrête pas un train qui file à pleine vapeur!

With a faltering economy forcing companies to cut spending whenever possible, less expensive and freely available Open Source software solutions may be gaining in popularity. Those wanting proof can look no further to PHP taking the top server-side scripting spot in a recent Internet host survey. Pas seulement pour des raisons économiques. La combinaison apache+mysql+php fonctionne très bien sous Linux et Windows, c'est un facteur à ne pas négliger. De plus, pour avoir remis la main au php dans les dernières semaines, le php est un langage fantastique pour 85% des besoins lors du développement de site web. Un bon exemple est que contrairement au ASP ou l'on doit insérer 2 caractères spéciaux pouformater un saut de ligne (pour envoyer un formulaire par couriel par exemple) en php il suffit de faire un retour de chariot a même le code et en plus l'expansion des variables se fait in-place comme en PERL...
