l'annonce des specs du Liberty Project et la sortie de l'API web services d'Amazon, les deux annoncés les même jour... les deux méritent des articles détaillés et touchent des sujets que je veux coucher sur électrons depuis longtemps... je pense que je vais faire l'article sur le web services d'Amazon en premier, juste parce que les concepts sont plus faciles à expliquer et les ramifications plus simple (mais tout aussi intéressantes)... en tout cas c'est sûrement sur afroginthevalley que vous lirez les anlayses business/techniques en français en premier (à moins que certains européens écrivent là-dessus pendant mon sommeil!) #

Why not leverage the kick ass network and make the tools that are out there collaborate more effectively. Instead of forcing me and my team to use Transcendar, why not write plugins that will let me use Outlook and my coworker in England use Lotus Notes. I create a calendar entry for a particular space, it goes in my calendar, gets sent across the wire to Jolly Ol' England and goes in his Lotus Notes calendar. That would be more useful to me. Liberty Alliance Project Publishes Version 1.0 Specifications for Federated Network Identification and Authorization
The Liberty Alliance Project has released its version 1.0 open federated network identity specifications. Federated single sign-on enables users to sign on with one member of an affiliate group and then use other sites within the group. Specific features include opt-in account linking, simplified sign-on for linked accounts, authentication context, global log-out, and a client feature. V1.0 relies upon the OASIS SAML specification. Dave Hyatt, Netscape engineer, creator of XUL, etc, has officially left Netscape to go work for Apple. Since Dave was also the guy in charge of the Chimera project (an attempt to build a Mac OS specific UI around the Gecko rendering engine to make up for Mozilla's deficiencies on the Mac platform) and Apple is rumored to be building their own browser (based on Chimera), could it be that this is what he'll be working on? #

Tiens, par ailleurs le 3e lien de cette page Google (societecivile.org) contient une section 'théories de la société civile' avec comme premier document de référence un texte que j'ai déposé, il y a quelques années, en préparation d'un colloque tenu en juin 2000 sur cette question. Un texte de Jean Cohen. Malheureusement le lien n'est plus bon... le site du colloque ayant été fermé. Mais le texte est toujours en ligne sur le site du RQIIAC. Ce texte de Cohen et Arato effectivement une bonne introduction à la question de la société civile, plus intéressante à mon avis que le très populaire texte de Robert Putnam (Bowling Alone). Voir aussi, de ce dernier auteur, le texte de 1993 (The prosperous community, Social Capital and Public Life) qui résumait son étude menée sur une période de 20 ans en Italie. Putnam est sans doute celui qui a le plus contribué à la popularité du concept de capital social depuis dix ans. Voir aussi cette initiative et des outils visant à mesurer (Better Together) et promouvoir le développement du capital social dans les communautés locales. Merci Gilles de partager tes références et ton savoir en public, n'est-ce pas là un investissement en capital social à retour garanti? #

3Com announced monday that it would soon unveil a revamped bridging technology that allows 802.11b networks to leap from building to building. Due out next month, the 3Com Wireless LAN Building-to-Building Bridge is an update of a technology 3Com unveiled a little over a year ago. The new version bumps up the distance it covers to 15 miles, while hitting speeds of up to 11Mbps. Depending on antenna size, customers can use the bridge for point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connections of between 300 and 20,000 meters. #

Web Services - What's The Frequency, Kenneth?
I have taken a look at dozens of the Web Service listings at both SalCentral.com and XMethods.org. In 9 out of 10 cases, the only implementation documentation that is supplied is the WSDL interface. What the fuck is up with that? I don't have the time to pore over some cryptic WSDL document, trying to figure out how to interact with a Web Service. Hehehe... transparency is not free! #
