MSNBC. Cheney outlines case against Saddam. Frankly, this is a flawed strategy. Given how unlikely it is that we will invade Iraq at this point, every belicose statement from senior government officials merely serves to sink the economy. Stop it, please! America's chance for a declaration of war ended last spring.
My view: an aggressive containment strategy would work better. Special ops and diplomacy could handle it. If he deploys chemical weapons teams in Kurdistan we send in teams to kill them. If he send tanks into Basra or Kurdistan, we arm the opposition. If he buys the machines to make weapons from French and German companies we freeze their accounts and sue them. Very simple. Is Saddam so much smarter than the USSR and the KGB that he can't be contained? Obviously not. Let's bite at his heals (+head, face, and neck) until we get the opportunity to take him out cleanly.
