Comcast is accused of anti-competitive "bundling" practices. NASA Rediscovers Kinetic Energy Equation 1/2 m v^2. NASA blasts lightweight foam at shuttle wing and finds damage to the wing. In so doing, they made the amazing insight that in the equation for kinetic energy, the energy increases per the square of the velocity. My son originally discovered this in a 5th grade science fair project where he hurled small objects with a homemade medieval seige engine. The teacher, apparently an ex-NASA scientist, did not understand this either and gave him a C grade. After I asked her to talk to my son, and my son began writing physics equations on the chalkboard she said, "oops" and ended up having him give a lecture and presentation to the entire 4th grade. He got an A. But I would think that NASA would have figured this one out by now - if you want to cause lots of damage, shoot lightweight things really fast!
