Sonic Foundry sells core assets to Sony.

The Madison software and digital media company said Friday that it is selling its largest division for $18 million to Sony Pictures Digital and expects to sell its second-largest division - media services - for $6 million by the end of June.

There won't be much left after this sale.

Ironically, we've been here before. Years ago, Avid purchased Elastic Reality, Inc years ago, kept some of the developers, then later closed up shop. We'll see if Sony is any different.
