Hey, Scott Girard, friend and former co-worker did a great job writing up his recent install of YDL 2.2, Beos, and MacOS on his Genesis boxen.
Scott, thanks for the mention in the story. I had fun going thru the process and I'm glad you made it as well.
A couple of things:
1) You can mount the mac hfs volumes from linux using 'mount -t' and specifying hfs. There are also native linux utilities for copying the files over to the hfs partition. It's been a while since I did it, but look at the man page for 'mount' and also do a search for 'cpmac'. Also, when I did this, mount only supported hfs, not hfs + volumes.
2) At one time you could configure BootX to pause at its splash screen on boot-up. This allows you to choose your OS of choice or adjust your kernel settings. Also, depending on your desired video settings, it's good practice to boot your mac into the video mode you'll be running X windows under. This sets up the frame buffer for the card and makes the verbose boot screen more readable.
I hope you get lots of traffic to this story. I know I wish there had been such a resource when I first tried this.
