ClearType!  This is a nice feature.  Without it the text in Windows looks a little sketchy compared to the OS X display.  I wonder how many cycles it's eating...

Greetings from Windows XP!

The install wasn't too bad. A little long, and I had to type in my product key twice.  I'll probably be updating later with my comparisons between XP and OS X.

Developers, Give .NET a Chance. Established Java developers should realize that for the benefit of their language, they owe .NET a chance. Serious Microsoft developers will need to adopt .NET and wise up from their client-server roots. Doing so puts them that much closer to Java. Simply put, .NET will secure the future of the Java language. [osOpinion]

What's this?  A well-reasoned article about .NET and Java?  Some friends of mine at Microsoft are extolling the virtues of .NET, one of whom has extension Java experience.  I plan on taking a look at the final .NET SDK soon.

Washington Post: "AOL Time Warner Inc. is in talks to buy Red Hat Inc., a prominent distributor of a computer operating system, an acquisition that would position the media giant to challenge arch rival Microsoft Corp., according to sources familiar with the matter."  [Scripting News]

Oh boy.  The Slashdotters will go nuts over this, even if it just a hoax.

Thanks to John Robb for the pointer.  The picture is originally from the Human Genome Project

For some reason Netscape 6 won't show the image, since it's in a div behind the rest of the content. If anyone knows why, feel free to e-mail.

Snow!

After living in Seattle for 3 years I'm used to having to drive 40 minutes to see snow.  Louisville got about 3-4" last night.  Hmmm...maybe it was better in Seattle - I have to clear my car off when I go out.
