the best soft drinks: Brämhults (swedish site)
currently enjoying a raspberry drink - these drinks are however extremely expensive like 3$ per half litre, therefore they are also better known as dotcom-juice...

the outline below has been lying around my IO for quite a while - never got around writing it up so here you go:
digital identity and webservices
  • works with other digital identity solution.
    • we know that microsoft is going to be pretty big in this game no matter what.
  • provide encryption
    • public encryption key easily pulled through xml-rpc or soap
  • certify digital identity with local governments
    • denmark at least is going to have certified digital signatures that are legally binding.
  • support and nurture open APIs for calendar, weblogging, instant outlining etc.
    • calendar/meeting being one of the more important..
    • also provide services for these APIs
  • provide secure private ways for above stuff
    • groups/projects/users for access to these private things.
  • BOOTSTRAPPING:
    • make sure your stuff works with other di's, i want ONE digital identity, not 5 different for m$, ascio etc.
    • main thing is for security
    • then the group/project/user management keyword: usability
    • open it up through xml-rpc and soap, still keeping it secure.
    • work on the calendar thing which seems to be the killer-app
    • nurture and fund standard APIs for different services
    • micropayment, would you mind paying 0.001 dollars per google search? sure think google wouldn't mind...
      • hmm second thoughts about micropayments, hurts poor people and countries and keeps them from information. hmm

some people are talking about a digital divide between the western world and third world, I feel/hope this in the long run is wrong, it's more like the digital unite. why? well, there has always been a divide, and why won't the digitalization of the western world make that divide greater, the answer is short - money.
the new economy has arrived in the western world, profits are falling, companies are unable to monopolize markets, price differentiation is impossible, employees doesn't want to work for a big-co who is only selling their labour to third part, they want to be free agents. this all falls back on the investors, the return on their investments are falling, but where do they find better returns? third world countries.
these guys at geekcorps and wire.less.dk are doing some pioneering work at bringing infrastructure (and hopefully the new economy) to third world countries. I've been thinking about shortening the gap between these countries and the western world, ever since I saw a program on tv about a pearl farmer in indonesia - he sells his best pearls for 50$ a piece, these are then sold in the western world for 20.000$ a piece (I might be a little of on the numbers..). Imagine this farmer acting under new economy, he would be more than happy to sell his best pearls for 200$ (or whatever the market price will be) and fedex them to the buyer. think about all the good these money can do locally instead of in the hands of some trader...
the joy of new economy!
