Leather balls go way of wooden rackets and bats Here in Washington State they made the switch to synthetic basketballs at the high school level a couple years ago and I think it's been a popular decision with most players and coaches. Modern synthetics have a slightly softer feel than leather and like the article says don't require a break in period. 1:19:51 PM
