Scoble and early immersion

Scoble makes some good points about why (some people) should definitely adopt technologies early.

I remember talking to people who were Mac consultants and who still weren't using Mac OS X as late as Mac OS 10.1, and thinking to myself; "man, you are so screwed if you don't act soon."

I've been every version of Mac OS X as soon as it was usable, as much as I could. Why?

Because it was where the OS was going to go (In the case of Mac OS X, the industry as well). I mean, what are the odd that the mothership (MS or Apple) is going to suddenly say "Oh, never mind, this isn't where we're going".

Not Bloody Likely.

It's more likely that you'll jump ship. (as many people have done for Mac OS X)

As Scoble says:

Remember what happened to folks who ignored Windows until 1995? They were left behind and quickly became irrelevant.

Right now you're witnessing yet another inflection point in the IT industry. You have to decide whether or not to be there or not. [The Scobleizer Weblog]

Of course, in the interest of being adversarial, I should point out that Microsoft is heading for said inflection point, once they figure out what Apple is doing. :)

I should also point out that 10.3 is gonna rock! (Actually, it already does. :))
