Shrook Triumphant! (well, almost) Well, I've been using Shrook for not quite a week now, and I'm somewhat hooked.

It definitely has some glaring deficiencies in the interface.

Some defects it shares with the program it competes with, the top-flight NetNewsWire Pro (Inability to select multiple items in a channel listing). On the other hand NetNewsWire lets you select multiple channels.

And for posting articles to a weblog? Fuggedabaddit. NetNewsWire wins hands down. Even if you don't wanna use NetNewsWire to post, it lets you copy the article in HTML suitable for posting.

I do say that I like Shrook's search (not really used, but nice) and the synchronization (nice, but I've never been sure I wasn't skipping or missing article).

I will say it's allowed me to catch up on my RSS feeds a hella lot faster (being able to "mark" an article is great, but I think I'm gonna go back to NetNewsWire for a bit and see if that's just a configuration thing. A great try, just not quite what I need. I think. I'll keep ya all posted. :)

OmniWeb Stable!

Well, for now at least

But...for how long?

Seriously, if it wasn't for teh stability issues, OmniWeb wins best browser hands-down. The ability to manipulate tabs into grouping that I want to read in a row, along with the ability to quit the browser and open back up into the tabs I had open is, quite simply The Way A Browser Should Be.

Now if it would only stop crashing....

Wonderfalls and Fox

Bye, Wonderfalls As expected, the idiot suits at Fox have cancelled Wonderfalls, only a week after they changed the show's night. The show will not air again, according to this post from Tim Minear, the producer. Perhaps the producers will be able to find a place to show the remaining episodes.

When, when, are people going to learn?

The Fox network, once having been a network willing to take some risks and pull off some weird-ass shows, like The Simpsons and Ally McBeal and of course, their flagship, X-Files..that network is dead, has been dead for a hella long time.

If you're looking for the watershed event, look no further than a little show called...Profit.

Fox killed this show after showing, I believe, 5 or 6 of the original run, and with 3-4 still in the can. It had been hailed by critics (I know, I know) and also generated a large uproar when it was cancelled. Fox officials later said that they had "underestimated" the show's appeal, but it was too late to bring back the cast, sets, etc.

Fox's management are idiots, and have been, for a long, long, time. If it doesn't "make it" within the first 3 episodes, wave bye-bye to it. Unless, of course, it's a POS reality show that no one watches, in which case get used to seeing it as filler material every 2 weeks.

Now that Futurama is off, and my ReplayTV has all of The Simpsons archived, I can pretty much remove the local FOX affiliate off the TV, for all it matters.
