So, thursday night last week was supposed to be the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, so of course it was overcast. :)

Daughter and I went out in the backyard of her Grandparents house anyways, as she'd been taking about getting a sleeping bag and sleeping outside and the like.

So we end up outside on an overcast night that was, all in all, pretty nice. Decent breeze, lot of light being cast by light from Boston reflecting from the clouds. I set out a beach blanket and we laid out on that, with her cuddling up next to me.

"I'm still a little afraid of the night", she confided in me. So I showed her how the crickets that were chirping all about us, could help you tell if there were any largish animals nearby. She liked this trick, and was emboldened to start zipping around the yard.

"I have the reflexes of all animals inside me!" She then proceeded to show me how she could leap like a cat, hop like a frog, and various other demonstrations.

She was in one of those states, clearly being driven by thoughts in her, and she was laying them out for me. Running, jumping, spinning and talking.

Kids are way better than Astronomy, sometimes.
