It just can't be done.
It's too much.
If you let the whole world in, or try and keep tabs on the whole thing, even if you try to narrow it to just the parts that generally interest you, it will suck you in and absorb you.
"My informational wet-dream is to live just after the burning of the Library of Alexandria, when someone could conceivably know all that was deemed knowable." -Some e-'Zine cira 1996.
I've always had this theory that true empaths don't exist, that the "sci-fi" kind of super empath who could feel other people's emotions, as opposed to imagining other people's emotions, which is really what we all do, most of the time, is impossible. Or rather, I think that if they do exists, they're all in mental wards somewhere, doped up past their eyeballs to keep them from acting out the rage and pain that they must feel.
Anyways, it can't be done, and I think I'm starting to realize that. Or at least accept it. I just can't figure out what amounts I can live with.

Living Mac Browser Shootout
Idea: A "live" compendium of the existing Mac browsers, compared against each other.
Yes, I know people have done reviews, but that's not what I'm talking about here.
First off, and what would make it unusual, would be to update it. Keep things fresh, and take note of the changes that come out.
Scoring would work this way; there would be a "pool" of points. Point could be awarded to each browser, but the pool itself is finite. Points can be deducted from the browser for missing feature and put back in the pool, or directly assigned to another browser. The finite nature of the pool is the thing, as well as transparency on the scoring. I'll have to think about it. I mean, maybe this is just me thinking up a too complex version of an averaged star-ratings system?

What the Mac needs now....
Is another Bookmarks manager...like I need a hole in my head.
What the Mac actually needs, is a centralized Bookmark listing. Now. I've been switching browsers a lot lately, trying to take care of an issue that now appears to be a hardware problem with my PowerBook. I'm finding myself to be really fatigued by realizing "Oh right, that's in my other bookmark list". That suxes.
Yeas, I'm aware of programs like URL Manager, and the like, but I've tried them, and they just don't do it for me. A "Favorites" list is just a frinking HTML list, what is the problem!?
I know, I know, I hear some of you out there; "But the browser makers wanna do cool stuff with their bookmarks, allowing you to manage them, move them, update them, etc. B.S. How hard would it really be to simply have the ability to point your browser at a single file and use it, have an option that says "Hey, this is a shared bookmark file, leave it as stock HTML." Hell, you could probably do it as n XML file and add your coolio stuff.
Of course, something like that would require that browser makers work together, so I'm really just killing endless little pixel creatures in vain here.
