Tom Wiebe's Radio Weblog [ The addled ramblings of a career insomniac. ]
Dave says today:
Seth, we're going to be working out glitches in Radio for a few weeks at least. We're going to sell into corporations through consultants and VARs, and they will support the installations.
This is music to my ears. I've been completely taken with Radio and poking around in the internals all week to get the lay of the land. While it is still foreign to me, unlike my preferred Lasso environment, I am really excited about the possibility of moving a lot of the functionality of our sites off to the client side as it means we'll be able to pack a lot more sites on a server, which will save us money and headaches.
Where do I sign up??????????

IOC blindsides honest Ohlund - I for one will be very glad when these Olympics are over and the NHL decides not to play next time (I hope). This, like far too many other things to do with the Olympics, is just silly. Has to be the first column Gallagher has written that I agreed with in the 13 years I've lived in Vancouver.
I feel that there should be some sort of review of cases like this before they're made public. We all understand the importance of keeping the Olympics drug free, but each case should be judged on it's merits. Ohlund has had several eye surgeries to repair a career threatening injury and has only in the last month or so returned to his top form of 2 years ago. Give him a break and go after the real cheaters here.

Joshua mentioned many other issues to do with China, US spying, US Prisons, and Chinese Canadian immigrants that are worthy of note as well but, it's 4 AM now, and any reply I made would do no justice to his thoughtful remarks.
Some of his statements, I agree with, some I don't. When it comes right down to it, we'd probably have a great chat over a 40 of Laphroaig and a few illicit (in the US) cigars. Why, I bet we could solve world hunger with a second bottle!
If you haven't already, be sure to read his full article. You can find it here.
China Defense - Today, when I heard about the botched attempt by the U.S. to bug the Chinese President's personal aircraft (come on, how many freekin' bugs did they need, anyway?), I remembered that I owe Tom Wiebe a response to his critique of my previous pro-China piece.
And, I apologize to you to. I am many things, but I am definitely not a granola munching dope smoking hippy love child. I was not trying to espouse the view that China should leave Tibet, I don't know enough about the issue to make a decision. I was simply trying to state that there was a sizeable population (namely, Tibetans in exile), that would disagree with the statement that China was not an agressive nation. I should have been clearer in that.
If you want to find reasons to hate the Chinese government, you don't have to look as far as Tibet. A quick search of Google will provide lots of ammunition.
