I have started riding my bike in the morning, just to get a little exercise and clear my head before I start the day's work. As usual, I had forgotten how much I enjoy riding.
My first ride yesterday was along the Guadalupe River from downtown to the airport. Roundtrip was about 7 miles.
This mornings ride as a bit more exploratory and ended up being about twice as long. I started by driving to Hellyer Park and picking up the Coyote Creek trail there. I decided to back track to see where was the nearest place to home that I could pick up the trail. I was able to get to Tully Road (about 3 miles from home). This stretch of the trail runs past the police stables, along Los Lagos golf course, up into Coyote Creek Park. On the way, I saw lots of feral cats and on the way back to Hellyer Park saw a wild cat (bobcat) near the north end of Los Lagos golf course. That pretty much made the ride right there.
Once I got back to Hellyer Park I proceeded upstream to see what the trail was like from Hellyer to Bernal Road (I have previously ridden from Bernal Road down toward Morgan Hill). The total distance for the trip was about 14.8 miles. Thats a little more than I wanted to ride and I am feeling it now.
I am not going to commit on a ride for tomorrow, but to keep with the theme, I am thinking about riding parts of the Los Gatos Creek Trail.
