San Jose is blessed with many vibrant neighborhoods. I try to keep up with neighborhood events throughout the city, but my focus is on downtown/central San Jose.

A great way to thank Mother Nature!

Want to feel a bit more connected to Mother Earth? Why not get your hands dirty by composting? With spring in the air, this is the perfect time to get started!

On Wednesday, May 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, the Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens will hold a free composting workshop, cosponsored with the Santa Clara County Home Composting Education Program. Hosted by Master Composter MicheleYoung, the workshop will cover topics including what items can be composted, the various composting methods available, and what to do with finished compost. Worm composting will also be discussed as well as ways to help you choose which method works best for you. In addition to the workshop, the City of San Jose will have compost bins for sale.

The workshop and bin sale will take place at the Guadalupe Garden Center, located at 715 Spring Street in San Jose. The workshop is free to attend, but space is limited, so make reservations today by calling the Education Coordinator at 408-298-7657 or sending email to education@grpg.org Visit http://www.grpg.org/ for more information.
