Want something educational AND fun for your child to do this summer? Have
them become a Water Wizard!
The Friends of Guadalupe River Park & Gardens are pleased to present the
third season of their Water Wizard Day Camps where nature, science and
history come alive for young children in a unique outdoor setting in San
Jose.
The Water Wizard day camps consist of hands-on activities, presented by
experienced teachers, that focus on exploration of the Guadalupe River's
ecosystem. Native American studies, field ecology, and environmental issues
will also be explored. The travels will include hiking down to the river,
wandering through the Heritage Rose Garden and exploring the past in the
Historic Orchard. Children will also learn about composting, with special
attention to worms and their function in keeping our soil healthy. All the
activities are interactive and promote learning through discovery and
experiences with nature.
Two different types of day camps are being offered this year. The first is
the traditional two-day session. These camps begin the week of July 7 and
are held every Tuesday and Thursday, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM, through the
week of August 11.
A new opportunity is also available this year with the Saturday Mini-Camps.
Mini-Camps will take place three times during the summer and each one has a
unique focus. The Mini-Camps will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on June
21, July 19 and August 23.
The cost of the two-day (Tuesday/Thursday) session is $60 per child per
session and the Saturday Mini-Camps cost $30 per child per session. All the
camps are geared towards children ages 7-10.
