the new foveon chips are the solution that makes sense for color digital photography. the current generation of sony, olympus, etc... i have tried so far (one layer of sensors with software reconstruction of colors) simply does not and cannot work. their inherent defects, as i have experimented them, are clearly documented on this foveon's page.
the first generation of foveon chips is relatively small, and the resolution, inferior to what is becoming standard elsewhere.
i wish leica would adopt the foveon chip for their next digital camera. unfortunately, their upcoming digilux 1 is still based on the former, mainstream imaging technology.
