California Weekly Hay Report

Southern California: FOB Barn/Stack: 14,662 Tons Delivered: 5,475 Compared to last week, Premium and Supreme Alfalfa fully steady, instances 5.00-10.00 higher as the week progressed, on clippings. Demand good and supplies limited with most supplies going to Northern buyers. Should see stacks of 1st cuttings in couple of weeks. Fair and Good Alfalfa fully steady. Demand moderate and supplies moderate. Seeing more interest in May/June 2003 hay from some dairy accounts. Retail and Stable hay steady. Demand moderate and supplies moderate but light for the higher quality. Weather very cooperative in the hay production this past week. Black Aphids have been big problem for producers this season, requiring extra spraying.
