Spot cotton trading was moderate in the Desert Southwest (DSW). Supplies decreased moderately and remained at a moderate level. Demand remained steady. Mixed lots of color grades 21 and better, leaf 2 and better, staple 36 and longer, mike 35-49 traded at around 52.00 cents, uncompressed, FOB warehouse. Color grade 31, leaf 3, staple 34, mike 35-49 traded at around 51.00 cents, same terms as above. Growers pledged some of their cotton to the CCC loan. Agents for domestic mills purchased a light volume of cotton for prompt shipment. Agents for mills in Mexico purchased a moderate volume of cotton for January shipment. Ginning from modules continued, but was slower.
