Southern California: FOB Barn/Stack: 11,575 Tons Delivered: 6,273
Compared to last week, slowly but surely loosing some of the
quality in the southern desert. Prices for Premium Alfalfa near
steady, few more sales in the Good category and holding about steady.
Demand has lighten and supplies have increased on all qualities of hay
in the southern desert. Antelope Valley producers have been busy
finishing up on their dairy hay and have also been busy putting up
their forage mixes. Premium and Supreme Alfalfa holding steady in
prices. No Fair or Good Alfalfa has been produced. Not enough new
sales of new crop Alfalfa retail or stable hay for trend comparison
nor has there been enough sales of forage mixed hay for trend
comparison. Exporters have been holding off on buying any large
quantities of hay. Sudan hay for export is being put up now and the
next couple of weeks should have enough volume for new sales to start.
