California Weekly Hay Report
Southern California: FOB Barn/Stack: 12,179 Tons Delivered: 4,700
Compared to last week, Premium and Supreme Alfalfa not tested.
Fair and Good Alfalfa steady in light test. Standoff between buyers
and sellers continues, as dairies continue to look for lower prices
and producers desiring higher prices. Are seeing a few producers
letting go of earlier produced hay. Supplies moderate to heavy.
Weather continues to takes its toll as thunder boomers moved
through area and it?s been hot and humid. Of course this makes it
extremely hard to put up high quality retail/stable or export hay in
the southern desert. In the high desert area of Antelope valley, few
sales of retail hay continue to feed stores at steady prices and
balance going into barns for winter take out. Exporters continue to
buy mostly Sudan hay and fairly quiet on Alfalfa and Bermuda hay.
