5 - Diligently Wash Your Hands

5 - Diligently wash your hands

This is #5 of the 8 steps to combat SARS on a poster plastered all over Beijing.

You should frequently maintain clean hands by washing the palms, backs, tips, fingernails, etc. Whether you use soap or cleanser, the important thing is to rub the hands to and fro for 10-15 seconds, then rub the whole hands for not less than 30 seconds, then use flowing water to rinse the hands clean. If you touch contaminated materials, you should wash your hands at least 5 or 6 times.

Because I'm not sure if the last sentence tells you to at least *wash* or *rinse* your hands 5 or 6 times, I tried submitting the Chinese text to an automatic translation site (http://www.netat.net/). Results serve as an example of why Chinese is a particularly challening language for such software:

Should often keep both hands clean, the palm while washing hands, the back of the hand, Hands are sharp, the nail should all be washed while sewing etc.. Soap or cleaning solution want and in rub with the hands one second back and forth on hand, crumple time should less than 30 seconds entirely, Water is washed clean by flowing finally. Have touched hands which dye articles of transfering to , should rub with the hands and print five or six times at least
