Brentwood News. City addresses need for affordable housing
BRENTWOOD -- The city is focusing on how to ensure more homes will be built for low-income residents. (Feb. 1) [Brentwood NewsAffordable housing is a community responsibility yet the only residents being asked to provide it (pay for it) are new homebuyers....the cost of their new home will rise to pay for the inclusionary units (low income housing) the builder is required to include in the project.  I've never understood why, in the pursuit of affordable housing, local governments adopt policies that make 90% of new housing more expensive to make 10% affordable - and little or nothing is asked of the existing community. 6:35:52 AM
