CSS upgrades.

Non-designers: go do something else for a minute. I have a few late-night CSS upgrades:

  • The stylesheets no longer use absolute positioning for the main content. This works around a bug in several versions of IE that prevent copying and pasting text. I fixed this once a few weeks ago, but managed to re-introduce the same bug yesterday. Oops.
  • Users with Javascript turned off will get the default theme ("Traditional").
  • You can now use URLs like this to change themes. These have the advantage of being linkable and bookmarkable. (Javascript must still be turned on.)
  • New theme: Metafilter. Imitation is the sincerest form of, um, imitation.

Must sleep now. Very late. No sleep. Long day at work tomorrow.

Move Over, BT: He Invented Links. British Telecom's claim that it owns the patent to hyperlinking outrages Bob Bemer, an octogenarian who invented what would become a key component of Web navigation a long, long time ago. By Michelle Delio. [Wired News]  11:17:59 AM
