I have a suggestion - make sure your name is in the header of every file :-)

I've seen (and been on both sides of) many such happenings. Please remember that the folks who take over the project probably envy you, since you don't have to do the detailed drudgery of making it fit into the currently favored application mold, and now you get to go on to the next fun project.
