Today we start a new house project. It's time to reclaim the family room downstairs. Years ago there were a couple of problems with water (like a major storm got in under the door and the washing machine hose broke...). Since there was an indoor/outdoor carpet glued the to the cement floor, this was a problem. I've removed the rug (that took quite a while) and now the room is finally empty.
So, we start the project today. The idea is to put in the subfloor and then put pergo on top of that.
The subfloor will be built out of pressure treated 2x4's which will be nailed to the cement floor (here comes the nail gun :-). We're also going to use liquid nails to hold the 2x4's down even more solidly.
On top of the 2x4's will be 3/4th inch plywood which will get the same liquid nails and then screwed down to the 2x4's (out comes the whizzy drill :-).
This is probably going to take a while... so, I'll be taking pictures throughout the project.
