It's already been a whole year of using radio. Wow - I wouldn't have guessed that. I gotta get better at this weblog stuff. Now that I have some time... I think it might be a good time to get going on working more on the weblog.
Even stranger was being layed off from my job. This is a first time for me. I've been thinking about it a lot (well, now I have time). The thing that keeps coming back to me is that I love to create programs - that's what I do. It's a good thing. And I really can't even get all that up set about being layed off - the company needed to reduce it's expenses. Strange, but I can understand it and not get all upset about it.
I believe there are different types of software developers - some are the standard 8am to 5pm type of folks who program because they need the income, but if they could do something else, they would do that just as average as their programming. The other type of software developer is the person who really loves what they do and they do it for lots of different reasons.
I'm one of those second type of software developers who love to program. I loved working at my last job - it was a great group of people that I was working with - and I got involved everywhere and helped however I could. That's what working at a startup is all about.
I installed a SwitchLinc 2-Way Dimmer in the dining room today. This is a cool light switch and it even does X-10 (so your computer can turn it on and off). The green indicator light on the left side of the switch is just what every geek would want :-).
There are some great weblogs out there like: The Doc Searls Weblog or Scripting News (by Dave Winer). Weblogging takes time and effort and these two (and many, many others) put in the time and effort.
On to watching the next episode of CSI - the first season on DVD. I started watching CSI the last fall and it's been great. Season one is lots of great shows in a box. The extras per DVD are non-existant and the menus aren't too exciting - but for less than 60 bucks, it seems like a great deal to me.
