Experiencing the Heart of Jesus
I picked up a workbook about Jesus - I can't explain why, it just kind of followed me home. We were picking up tracts for New Hope Chapel and the movie and this studybook just jumped out at me.

It's from
Max Lucado and the title is: Experiencing the Heart of Jesus.

Maureen and I just started it this morning. It seems to be pretty good. I like his writing style in it. We'll have to see where it leads us. You'll know more once we know more...

Road to Redemption
Road to Redemption is a World Wide Pictures movie that our Church showed for free. It was an outreach project and seemed to work pretty well.

I was the audio/visual person and it was interesting - there's a story here.

Maureen and I got to the school a little early and no one else was there. I'm sure the janitor opened the door for us, but we couldn't find him. Maureen and I carted everything in from the car and started to get setup. This takes a while as I had to setup speakers up front, run the speaker wires, run an extension cord to get power to the back of the auditorium, setup the a table with a little table on top (for the projector), setup the receiver, dvd player, sound board, projector and wireless mic - and hope to get the wires just right. The speaker wires were provided by someone else. Ok, got it all plugged in and tried a sound check: "BUZZ, click, quiet, BUZZ, click, quiet..." Not good. I tried futzing with the wires, sound check - no good. Change the wires more drastically, try again... no good.

Next thing I hear is that there isn't a screen to project the movie onto. Great... no screen, no sound... this movie isn't looking too good yet. The janitor said that the screen was there but they took it down a while ago. Hmm. Folks go scrambling to get a projection screen and hoping that we might be able to get it setup. We found a white board, but it was just too small and there wasn't really any other way to project the movie - the curtains were a dark red - couldn't do it on them.

Then I noticed a group of folks just sitting. I quickly prayed about then as chaos was crashing down - it was only in my mind. I'm sure the group of folks sitting prayed too.

A funny thing happened then. Someone noticed a little string hanging down by the curtains in the front of the auditorium and the big projection screen was attached to it. Great - grab the ladder and use the top of the flag and blamo, we have a projection screen.

I remembered that I had brought the cables that I had used to test the sound system with a couple weeks ago. I needed a couple of plugs to use these cables, so off went Maureen to Radio Shack - with an example plug in her hands. Unplug the non-working speaker wires, run the good working wires to the speakers (and they were just the right length). Test the video projector, focus it and we got a picture and it looked good. Maureen comes back, quick plug the speakers in and sound test. Blamo - good sound. Yahoo...

The movie went just fine, we started a little late... but it worked out great in the end.

Without God we wouldn't have been able to do it at all.

Lots of times I think we try to force things to work and it isn't always what God wants us to do. When I'm lost and confused and chaos seems to be winning is just one of the obvious times to trust Him.

Thy will Lord, not mine.
