iPod fixed
I dropped and broke my iPod a while ago. It had been one of those gadgets that are great - but was busted for most of the last year. I sent it into a place called iPodResQ to get fixed. I knew there was a disk error on it - it had been dropped a number of times (I'm a klutz) and it wasn't in a protective case at the time...

In any event... the iPodResQ folks opened it up, put in a working disk, replaced the battery and sent my iPod home with it's old battery. I started charging it up and it seemed to be working. Charged it all night long and in the morning - nothing. Just a dead iPod. Strange. I figured it was just me. So I putz and wait and decide it wasn't really fixed. Sent it back in to the iPodResQ folks. Marcell was good about it and tested it for a week - it played music just fine for the whole time for him. Back home it came...

I played it for a while and needed to recharge it - plugged it into my computer and charged overnight again. Blamo - dead in the morning. I don't like it when you wake up dead in the morning.

I gave up for awhile... about a week or so. I just couldn't get it to work at all.

I was inspired to put in the old battery. Doppy idea - but hey - I didn't really believe that the battery needed replaced anyways. I looked up how to open up an iPod online, put in the old battery... and it was dead for a day or so. I think this was a sympathetic death where it was missing the old battery.

At the end of work yesterday - I tried plugging it into my laptop to recharge - and LIFE! My iPod seems to be happy and working like a champ again. Oh baby it's great to see it playing music again!

I'm not sure what to think about the iPodResQ folks. It could be that my iPod was an early model that the spiffy new battery just didn't quite work right with. The old battery seems to work fine. I'd probably recommend them to replace the disk and test it - but weird stuff like the iPod dying when fully recharged using the laptop to charge it up doesn't seem to make much sense. Go figure.

Picture time...
Time for a bunch of pictures... I finally have a little time to download them from the cameras and get them online... here's hoping that Maureen's physical therapy takes a while longer...

These are the new steps we put in so that Maureen won't fall down the steps again. I like the new banister. Gotta finish them yet...

New steps

This is a picture of the aircast that Maureen had to wear for a while. Spiffy - but not very fun.

Aircast

Here's a picture of one of the blue bricks that I put under the couch for Maureen. The idea was to tape together two regular old bricks with painters tape (so they'd stay together) and then I used the set of four of them to raise the couch. This made it a lot easier for her to get up and down with the two bad ankles. I took these into work for someone else just about a week ago.

Blue bricks

Here's a couple upclose pictures of the new spiffy air brace. You can see the place where Dr. Terrill did the surgery to fix the tendon - he's good.

(I'm working on getting the pictures online... but they aren't quite going as easily as they should...)

More pictures coming soon...
