At UBC we use WebCT as our CMS. Because of our unique relationship with WebCT (it was created at UBC), we have not had to pay for the software (in the past) . As a result, we have many WebCT servers all over campus. This has its strengths and weaknesses, but as WebCT gains in use on campus, we are trying to put together a cohesive strategy for implementing and supporting it. I recently presented a 'History of WebCT at UBC' where I highlighted the milestones of our WebCT use (and the recent disasters as well). The presentation could be made better (and could be shared - my presentation used Post-Its on a whiteboard) with decent visualisation software (in particular timeline generation software). This is the best that I have found so far:

Timeline constructors?

I will post what I have once I decide on a package.

Uli and I presented at the UBC e-Strategy Town Hall this week. Our presentation is coming along. There is nothing quite like a presentation to force thinking on festering ideas. We are talking about community and collaboration (also one of the themes of the Town Hall this year) and are hoping to go from ideal communities to practical examples around campus. We plan to follow up with new tools that may be able to facilitate this better than old tools (including a plug for blogs, wikis and other tools).

The presentation will be up on line shortly, but in the meantime, a list of references sits at the URL below:
