"The radio signal that comes out of the AM and FM dials is undergoing a major overhaul, one that will not only bring FM-quality sound to the AM side and CD-quality sound to FM programming but also will open the doors for new technology on the radio, including time-shifting capabilities."
People don't really want time shifting. I mean, who really wants to record some music that is playing now when you don't want to hear, it so you can wait and hear some other time. What people want is to be able to pick what they want to hear, when they want to hear it. That is the beauty of the P2P systems where I can say, "I want to hear that old Cyrus Faryar song 'Livin in a Land of Sunshine', and then go find it on the Net somewhere and listen to it now. The power of the Napster world is the ease that you can find what you want to listen to when you want to listen to it, like right NOW!
The power of the Net is that when the record companies won't do that for us we can do it for ourselves.
