Meet the music pirate. Steve regularly copies music CDs but sees nothing wrong in what record companies say is stealing. [BBC News: sci/tech] Meet Steve, an idiot who has no clue how his actions affect the rest of the music world. The college students I teach will steal music, but they are young and poor. This guy is in his thirties, has a job and the funds to buy music. How do these people think musicians are going to feed themselves? Do you work for free all the time? The recording industry has to change, but piracy has to be vigorously pursued also.

Antarctic ice shelf breaks apart. The Larsen B shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula fragments in just a few months into small icebergs. [BBC News: sci/tech] Is this the result of global warming? Should we be trying to prevent this? Can we even do it? These questions have to be answered pretty soon. This ice broke up much faster than expected. What happens if sea levels rise much faster than we expect?
