The future of the energy economy may depend upon cyanobacteria. Recent research shows the production of hydrogen using Anabaena strains. The whole reaction is driven by the sun with the converstion of water to hydrogen gas. The hydrogen gas can then be used for fuel cells and the only product is water. A closed cycle, no pollutants and it uses the sun for energy. Now if we can just get the oil companies out of the way this will happen.
