Hubble tackles paradox of Universe's age. New Scientist Apr 25 2002 8:09AM ET [Moreover - moreover...] It looks pretty clear that the universe is 14 billion years old. The Earth formed about 4 billion years ago. To be safe lets assume that it was too hot early on for life to form and then universe had to cool down for 4 billion years, then life probably formed on other planets near early stars. If you accept that,then there is some probability that sentient beings arose on some of those planets about 4 billion years later. So these life forms have had billions of years to advance their technology. Where do you think the human race will be 1 million years from now? Now think about 100s of millions of years. I wonder what these beings are doing?
