DaveNet: Is it marketing or journalism? [Scripting News] Dave Winer takes on the lack of real journalism. He bemoans the fact that most journalists are not objective and will not criticize their employer or advertisers for fear of loosing their jobs. I wonder if this lack of integrity is that new and whether it was much different in earlier times. Remember William Randolph Hearst and his publications. They told outright lies about the Spanish in Cuba and started the Spanish-American War in the hopes of selling newspapers. There is always bad and good in every profession, although I think Dave is right in saying that things have gone downhill in journalism lately.
