Unhealthy glow signals bioterror. Scientists are working on a light-based test which could be a quick way of spotting dangerous contamination of food or water. [BBC News: sci/tech] Using a fluorescent protein to detect dangerous bacteria quickly. This will be useful in food safety also.

One of the biggest lies on the internet revolves around vaccination. Many of the web sites on vaccination Web 'bias' against vaccination. Internet search engines are far more likely to guide people to sites which oppose the vaccination of children, according to a survey. [BBC News: sci/tech]. Let me state this very plainly. Vaccination is a good thing. People who believe differently are wrong. For more inoformation check out my comments on vaccination.

Tech managers targeted by cyber criminals. The network manager is often one of the most important people in an organisation and criminals are beginning to realise this, say police. [BBC News: sci/tech] Look out IT managers, they might come after you!

Badger 'food raids are TB risk'. Badgers could spread tuberculosis to cattle by raiding their troughs, warn scientists, who want improved farm security. [BBC News: sci/tech] It is possible that Badgers do transmit TB to cattle, but they have only shown a association - badgers will be attracted to cattle feed. One proposed solution is to kill all the badgers near farms. A better idea is to get the feed out of reach of the badgers.
