"Tommy Williams: "Like most teams inside Microsoft, we have a SharePoint site set up to share information. Everyone in the team can post to the site. There are lists, calendars, and even discussion groups."  [Scripting News]" Suppose that: 1) all email (and possibly IM traffic) that the whole workgroup sees (as opposed to private communications) is captured in the server; 2) follow-up and quotation are used to infer links among the stored pieces; 3) a Google-like search engine for the whole collection ranks items inferred and actual links. You capture much more, and have a notion of search relevance that reflects the centrality of particular items. Would it work?
