Traveling from Philadelphia from Vancouver today, I found new AT&T Wireless 802.11b access points in United Airlines terminals at Philadelphia and DIA. However, their pricing is absurd. The lowest charge is $9.99 for 24 hours tied to a particular access point. How many people spend 24 hours at an airport outside major weather events? The next price points are $29.99 and $49.99 for five or then one day passes over 180 days. Each pass gets tied to a particular access point. Finally, $69.99 for one month unlimited access. It would have been nice to get my mail and upload a revised document, but I refuse to be ripped off. As far as I could determine, their site does not give the locations of access points, so even if temporary insanity led me to buy a multisession package, I would have no idea of where I could use it, if at all. To add insult to injury, I am an AT&T Wireless cellular customer, but they offer no special deals. This is the worst service package and marketing I've seen in a long time. AT&T Wireless could have gotten some of my money, but by insulting my common sense they made me think again of switching my cellular service, which I've been contemplating for an unrelated but also irritating reason (the GSM cell site that covers my office mangles calls at peak times, and repeated complaints have yielded nothing).
