grow little margin, we gonna solve AI: I’ve just returned from NIPS 2005. The conference was great, and I hope to post more later about my favourite papers, posters and talks. The highlight of this year’s conference was undoubtedly Jeff Bilmes, Michael Collins, Koby Crammer and Fernando Pereira’s summary of their workshop on structured learning for text and speech processing. "At first we thought it was some kind of extremely localized earthquake," explained Martin LaRoque, head seismologist in charge of the investigation, "but once we traced it to Mount Hope Cemetery, we had a good idea what it was."
