Focus on the Family Lies to Children. Focus on the Family, James Dobson’s right-wing nutsoid organization, obviously isn’t above lying to kids:

Q. Hi, Average Boy!

I need some advice on evolution. Everyone is talking about it, and I just don’t understand why people think we came from monkey people. I hope you can answer my wonders.

Bye, Parker D.

A. Hey, Parker.

Great question! I’ve actually had people tell [...] [Ooblog]

In amongst all the nice 'kiddy' things at the web site are some really stupid, insidious and divisive misrepresentations. This is part of the reason that I feel anyone who follows organizations who lie as a fundamental part of their religion are idiots. Organizations who mislead, who prey on the faith of others, are some of the most evil ones around. Funny how so many of these are also so involved in current politics. No more rendering onto Caesar what is Caesar's and rendering onto God what is God's. They seem to be one and the same for some organizations.  comment []1:43:08 PM

Staggering Looting at Pentagon. I can't keep up with the level of corruption that is going on. The Washington Post reports on a Congressional Research Service report on the cost of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. It's not just that the wars are costing "nearly as much money as the departments of Education, Justice and Homeland Security combined" or that "the $811 billion total for both wars would have far exceeded the inflation-adjusted $549 billion cost of the Vietnam War." I mean, that's staggering enough, right? But, it gets much worse. Defense specialist... [Booman Tribune]

War profiteering is never good. But the republican congress will do nothing to stop it. As I recall, Truman, as a Senator, was head of a committee during WW2 that was a watchdog for profiteering. Democrats watching out during a Democratic presidency. And it worked. The Truman committee saved something like $15 billion. That is about $160 billion in today's dollars. Democratic oversight. Now we have Republicans during a Republican presidency and it does not. Seems to me that government oversight during 'war' really only does not work when Republicans are in charge. Why would anyone elect a Republican to a Congress who simply takes tax money from us and gives it to their cronies? This Congress is busy turing over not only our money but our children's money. And the Republicans just want to do more to line their own pockets. A trillion dollars sure will help buy some nice yachts, houses and hookers.  comment []9:47:29 AM
