The Formative Dylan: I'm reviewing this book for On The Tracks magazine (wish they'd get a better website together). It discusses 70 early Dylan songs, and their roots (i.e. borrowed melodies and lyric patterns).
Dylan's influences were as varied as his early repertoire suggests. He drew freely from artists representing Rock 'n' Roll, Country, Hillbilly, Race, the 1930s-50s folk movement, and his contemporaries in teh 1960s folk revival. He learned from recordings and from other musicians, rarely through written media.
I'll talk about Dylan a lot in this blog; those who know me well know it's something of an obsession (I admit it) with me. Reviewing for On the Tracks means I get to read all Bob-related books. I well remember when there were only a few books around, now I have a pretty sizeable shelf full, and more are appearing all the time.

Wow, thanks to Dave's link I finally have some readers, but I've been tied up all day so couldn't add more to the blog.
Dave nailed me pretty well: I love neat toys. Scripting systems in general are among the neatest ones I know. Radio is very cool. I have a lot of thoughts about blogging and Radio, and will try to get them down in the next couple days...
