While I was walking from the Hotel Cafˇ to the subway station I passed a film crew working at Hollywood and Vine. A film crew is certainly not unusual in itself, but this was the first time I'Ve seen filming in Hollywood.

Despite the association of Hollywood with the movie industry, the movie studios are actually located elsewhere. Hollywood today is a big, somewhat run-down, tourist trap during the day, and the location of numerous clubs with live bands at night.

I'm not at all surprised that Arabs figured out hieroglyphs (I'd only be surprised if they hadn't), but it's very interesting to read some of the details.

FEC May Regulate Web Political Activity. A recent federal court ruling says the FEC must extend some of the nation's new campaign finance and spending limits to political activity on the Internet. Long reluctant to step into online political activity, the agency is considering whether to appeal.

If the Feds actually do impose some sort of limits on political writing on the Internet, I will ignore it.
