UK Police: Man Killed Unrelated to Probe. The man shot and killed on a subway car by London police in front of horrified commuters had nothing to do with this month's bombings on the city's transit system, police said Saturday in expressing their regrets. [Yahoo! News]

If this had happened in the US I would expect the murderers to walk away without so much as a slap on the wrist. A bunch of policeman would get together, decide that the shooting was "in policy," and that would be the end of it, because police have the power of life and death over the peasantry as long as they're careful to officially give themselves permission after the fact.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the English cops. My suspicion is that they, too, will give themselves permission to have murdered the poor guy, and that will be the end of it.
